At Kisalaya House, learning is never standardised. Every program is carefully designed around the developmental rhythms, emotional needs, emerging interests, and growing independence of each child.

Rather than moving children through rigid academic timelines, we create environments and experiences that support meaningful growth — intellectually, socially, emotionally, physically, and creatively. Our programs evolve gradually with the child, offering continuity, security, and increasing depth of inquiry as they grow.

18 Months – 2.5 Years

Gentle Beginnings

The earliest transition away from home deserves exceptional tenderness.

This stage focuses on emotional security, sensory exploration, movement, language emergence, and the development of trust-filled relationships. Children are offered calm routines, nurturing guidance, rich sensory experiences, music, storytelling, open-ended play, and abundant opportunities for exploration through touch, movement, and interaction.

The pace remains gentle, responsive, and unhurried — allowing young children to build confidence naturally.

2.5 – 4 Years

Curious Explorers

At this stage, children begin forming deeper relationships with language, ideas, materials, and one another. Their questions grow more complex, their imagination expands rapidly, and their desire for autonomy strengthens.

Through collaborative projects, symbolic play, creative exploration, storytelling, construction, movement, and outdoor experiences, children investigate the world with increasing confidence and curiosity. Early literacy and mathematical thinking emerge organically through meaningful experiences rather than formal instruction.

4 – 6 Years

Emergent Thinkers

Older children engage in longer-term investigations that deepen critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. Projects evolve over weeks as children research, hypothesise, revisit ideas, document discoveries, and express understanding through multiple forms of representation.

Literacy, numeracy, scientific thinking, creativity, and social responsibility are woven naturally into daily experience — always grounded in relevance, inquiry, and genuine engagement.

Our goal is not premature academic acceleration, but the development of thoughtful, confident, emotionally secure learners who approach the world with curiosity and resilience.

Extended Care Programme

Extended Daycare

Our extended care programme is designed as a seamless continuation of the child's day — not an afterthought. The environment remains calm, familiar, and emotionally responsive, aligned with the same values that guide the rest of the school experience.

Children are offered:

  • Rest and quiet spaces
  • Nutritious freshly prepared meals
  • Gentle afternoon rhythms
  • Creative exploration and storytelling
  • Outdoor play and meaningful social interaction

For working families, the experience feels less like "after-school care" and more like a thoughtful extension of home.

How Learning Unfolds

While every experience evolves differently, learning at Kisalaya House moves through a natural cycle:

  1. Provocation

    A material, question, story, observation, or experience sparks curiosity.

  2. Exploration

    Children investigate through discussion, experimentation, movement, collaboration, construction, and play.

  3. Documentation

    Educators observe and capture children's thinking, conversations, processes, and discoveries.

  4. Reflection

    Ideas are revisited, expanded, questioned further, and shared within the learning community.

This process nurtures not only knowledge, but the deeper habits of learning itself — curiosity, persistence, reflection, imagination, and independent thought.

What Makes Our Programs Different

Small Cohorts, Deep Attention

Our groups remain intentionally intimate to ensure every child is genuinely seen, understood, and supported. This allows educators to build strong relationships and respond thoughtfully to each child's evolving needs.

Meaningful Learning Over Performance

Children are encouraged to think carefully, ask meaningful questions, collaborate respectfully, and engage deeply with ideas. There are no standardised tests, excessive worksheets, or performance pressures.

Documentation, Not Report Cards

Families receive thoughtful documentation that captures the child's process, thinking, relationships, and growth over time — making learning visible in more meaningful and human ways than scores or checklists.
